Due to the Covid pandemic our club has been unable to hold a club fundraiser since November of 2019. That seems like a lifetime ago!! Thankfully we will have the opportunity to raise funds soon. On May 23rd we will be joining several dozen other nonprofits and charities in the Evansville chapter of Walking for Dreams 2021. A link to donate is at the end of this message. Our club goal is to raise $7500. This will be through donations, people walking with us and sponsorships. Why do we need to raise money? Rotary International is the oldest of the service organizations. Service is our business. Rotary International funds polio eradication efforts in Southwest Asia and West Africa. Ridding the world of polio has been a 30 campaign by Rotary and thankfully we are almost there, only TWO cases reported this year. RI also funds education, clean water, equal opportunities for girls and women, peace initiatives and scholarships for international students, just to name a few. Our club contributes RI every year to support these efforts.
Locally our club supports Habitat for Humanity($2500 this last year with a matching grant from our district for a total of $5000) with money and labor, Cops Connecting with Kids which sends deserving middle schoolers to Disney World each year along with their police chaperones($1000-1200), a $1000 scholarship for a graduating senior from Bosse High School and when Honor Flight resumes we'll sponsor a veteran on the flight to Washington DC($1000). These are only some of the causes we support. So you can see we need some funds to continue to serve our community. Please consider joining us on the walk and donating to our cause.
